Our Yorkshire Farm's Clive Owen takes blame for split from Amanda Owen: 'I handled it badly' (1)

Our Yorkshire Farm star Clive Owen has taken responsibility for the end of his relationship with Amanda Owen.

The pair were together 22 years but announced their separation last year after Owen admitted to having an affair.

Appearing on ITV's Lorraine, Owen said: "We filmed Our Yorkshire Farm, people loved it and it was an opportunity to make something as a family. That was what drove her. It was amazing and very successful but I handled it very badly."

He continued: "It was such a change in our lives and I sadly made a right mess of things basically. I had a massive part to play in the relationship ending."

Owen also defended her from online criticism and accepted fault for the breakdown of their marriage: "I was ranting and raving and drinking and carrying on. I don't know – jealousy. It seemed to eat away at me and I handled it badly and I behaved badly towards her.

"I should have been supportive... It's been really upsetting, Amanda's having a tough time at the moment. I just feel I can't sit back. I have to say something in her defence, she's a remarkable woman."

Owen also confirmed that the two still work and farm together on Ravenseat Farm and they still co-parent their nine children.

The couple announced their split last year and Channel 4 confirmed that Our Yorkshire Farm would not return for another season in its current form.

Instead, Channel 4 commissioned a spin-off focussed on Clive and his son Reuben called Beyond The Yorkshire Farm. The series shows father a son launching a digging business in Yorkshire.

At the time of their split, the couple issued a joint statement: "Clive and I are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate. This hasn't been easy, but we both believe it's the right choice for the future of our family.

"Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together, with our number one priority being the happiness and wellbeing of our children."
